A professional cleaning by a registered dental hygienist performed twice a year--sometimes more often if you are experiencing periodontal gum disease, is the recommendation by the Academy of General Dentistry. In addition to regularly brushing and flossing, patients who keep current with their bi-annual dental cleanings can rest assured that they are doing everything they can to achieve exceptional oral health.

Diagnostic Imaging 

Depending on your needs, our team of specialists may take x-rays before your cleaning to ensure that any cavities or other oral health issues that may not be visible to the eye can be detected. Regular Dental Cleanings

We pride ourselves on being gentle, compassionate, and thorough. For those patients who have sensitive teeth or gums, our highly trained dental team will numb the area to ensure a pain-free experience. Our registered dental hygienists will gently and proficiently remove any plaque, tartar and tough stains on the teeth, up to the gum line, as well as polish your teeth for a beautiful and polished result.

Scaling and Root Planing

For those patients who require more than a regular cleaning, our skilled hygienists will perform what is called scaling and root planing (SRP). Sometimes referred to as a deep cleaning, SRP is really much more than that! While a regular cleaning is intended for those patients who have healthy gums, SRP is a non-surgical process that treats gum disease, caused by a build up of plaque bacteria and acids. During this procedure, our licensed hygienists will remove plaque and tartar using a gentle, high-tech ultrasonic scaling device to effectively clean under the gum line. 

If you have been diagnosed with gum disease, it can only be reversed by performing scaling and root planing. Once a patient has gum disease, it cannot be treated by simply brushing, flossing, or by a regular cleaning. While gum disease sounds scary, the good news is that it is treatable and SRP performed by a licensed dental professional helps to reverse the disease and greatly improve the condition of your oral health!

Since this procedure can take up to two hours to effectively treat gum disease, we want our patients to be as comfortable and relaxed as possible. For this reason, we have flat-screen televisions mounted on the ceilings of each patient room, along with headphones for your comfort and entertainment. We have recently upgraded our cable television selection to accommodate our patients, so you will be sure to find an enjoyable show to help the time pass quickly!
